Mr. Chirs Eills, as the chief technology instructor of HAIKE and founder of flywheel KERS, has started the R&D and demonstration of ¡°electric type¡± flywheel KERS since the beginning of this century. He travelled to different countries in the past ten years to promote this technology, and has been granted quite a few patents in Europe and the US. The only pity is that this idea has never been materialized, let alone commercial product.

To develop a prototype that demonstrate the theory of foundation to ¡°electrical type¡± flywheel KERS is the first stage of prototype development. The first prototype is made up of high-power flywheel, planetary gear set, reducing mechanism and other components. This prototype is developed by the R&D team consisting of leading experts nominated by China top talent Plan ¡°Recruitment Program of Global Experts¡± and a group of technical staffs. Since there was no previous experience to lean from, the R&D team devoted several months to this groundbreaking task and finally succeeded in manufacturing, assembling, and testing the first prototype. HAIKE surmounted difficulties brought by the absence of own test rig and equipments, and started to test the prototype in a relative simple and crude lab lent by a supplier in Wuxi. After finished a large amount of testing and data collection work, HAIKE got the testing results fully conforming to the earlier expectation, indicating that the prototype has been a success. The prototype developed by HAIKE implies a significant ¡°idea to product¡± leapfrog for ¡°electric type¡± flywheel KERS and thus an important progress for its industrialization.
